Madison County Free Clinic

There has been an asthonishing uptake in patient registration and client services rendered within the last year. As the pandemic ends and federal funding is reduced, many of our patients are finding that they are no longer eligible for Medicaid services or have insuffient wages to cover supplimental Medicare. This means that more often than not, members of our community are utilizing their neighborhood free clinic as their primary care.

The Madison Free Clinic, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit clinic serving uninsured (or under insured) adults who live in Madison County, with primary medical care, prescription services, dental, vision and mental health care services. Members of the clinic are seen by providers at the clinic. Our patients are able to fill their prescriptions at our local pharmacy, and participate in the Medication Assistance Program, should they qualify. A patient's eligibility is reviewed every six months; we see patients whose household income is up to 300% above the Federal Poverty Level. While we do not provide medical care for those with Medicare or Medicaid, we can provide vision exams/eyeglasses and dental/denture services if otherwise uncovered.

Additional services

We are pleased to offer COVID-19 testing and seasonal Flu shots (ages 19-64). These services are available at no charge to those who live or work in Madison County. Please call us at 540-948-3667 to schedule an appointment. Additionally, we have a Community Health Worker on site, who screens interested folks for social determinates of health. We are then able to help with a broader spectrum of items, such as food, gas, housing, and heating/cooling needs. We have partnered with other agencies, that address those needs, and we are able to connect our patients to them.

A Message from Our Director

It is my absolute pleasure to work with the clients, volunteers and staff at MCFC. I was once told, long ago, that if you have a job you love, you will never work a day in your life. I spent many years at many jobs trying to understand that statement. It wasn't until I started working with the wonderful folks here in Madison, that I finally understood and actually felt that statement. I am overjoyed that we are busting at the seams, and I am so excited at this opportunity for us to grow. Every day, I look forward to meeting the next person I get to help, and continuing to help those, who are currently patients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this very deserving organization.

Testimonials

I love coming to the Madison Free Clinic because everyone is so nice, knowledgeable and fun. It does not feel like a doctor visit. I have been coming here for over one year now and when I have a problem it’s easy to call and get help. I have received great care!   -Carol

My husband and I have been patients at the Madison Free Clinic for several years now.  We have always received excellent care. Healthwise for both of us, this past year has been very rough. Recently, my husband’s provider was able to find out the cause of some pain he had been having for a while. He is now getting early treatment for colon cancer due to the quick thinking from the clinic staff. I have also had a hard time with some mental health. The clinic was able to get me into counseling, very quickly, this has helped me a lot. They are always more than happy to help when there is an issue. I always have a laugh when I’m in the office. They are an excellent team. -Wendy

I had wanted to seek counseling because I have a lot of children and my life is busy. Some things were going on and I sought to keep my mental health in order as I feel it's just as important as physical health. The waitlist for new patients in our area is about 4 months out. However, the free clinic was able to help me get in with their mental health side within a week I had an appointment . I  truly appreciate the free clinic and all it does as they have bridged a gap in the community for those who are stuck in the middle making too much for one and not enough for the other.-Mariea
